As Pakistan continue to struggle with corruption, injustice, unemployment, extremism, and political turmoil, we remain faithful to our call to help the destitute and needy.

As Mukhtar Masih sat in the RAM office groaning with hunger, and covered in bruises and lashes on his body, we wonder how long the destitute of Pakistan will suffer and the oppressors will continue to exploit the poor and needy without any consequences. The culture of injustice and discrimination against minority groups of Pakistan continue to foster inhuman treatment against the Christian communities of Pakistan.

Mukhtar is only 25 years old and by occupation he is a sweeper (cleaner), which is common among the Christian communities. The majority of them are deprived of education and better job opportunities. Mukhtar was working in a local motorbike plant as a cleaner. He was having his salary issues with the management of the plant who had not paid him for the last 4 months. Mukhtar had requested his salary multiple times but to no avail.

A week ago while he was arguing for his salary, the manager of the plant ordered the security guards to torture him physically. They locked him in a vacant room for two days without providing any food.

After two days his brother approached us and said that he suspected the factory manager of holding Mukhtar after his co-workers told him that Mukhtar was tortured and locked in a vacant room.

RAM immediately filed a case in Lahore High Court to recover him. The court appointed a bailiff who recovered Mukhtar from the plant in a miserable condition. He was not even able to speak because of the physical torture. The Court ordered to proceed against the manager of the plant according to the law.

RAM also admitted Mukhtar to the hospital where he is recovering from the torture and hunger that he faced in the last four days.

Thank you to our supporters for your donations that make rescues like these possible.
